AfrikaBurn 2024: 29 April to 5 May

Help the Unitarian Unicorns get 2 AfrikaBurn 2024!

Hi everyone! We’re a motley crew of intrepid Unitarian Unicorns headed to our first AfrikaBurn! As a mostly virgin Burner camp, we’re learning the ropes and supporting each other.

We’re a very diverse crowd, with South African, American, Austrian, Ugandan and Swedish folx. We’re from 28 to 80 years old! Our camp has queer, non-binary, indigenous, unprivileged, disabled, refugee, Sangoma and currently houseless members. We speak more than 7 languages, and we represent Hindu, Muslim, Pagan, Buddhist, Christian and Shamanic spiritual traditions. Our common bond is our sweet little Unitarian church in Cape Town…..And Hans! Our OG Unicorn.

Many of our members received free or discounted tickets, and need financial support to cover their burn costs. We’re making this happen through grit and hard work, and-of course-glitter and intention.

We need your help to fund uncovered transport/water/fuel/gear expenses for our members. We also need one last minute ticket! We’re delighted to welcome Pius to our camp-he’s a recently arrived gay refugee from Uganda.

We can’t wait to get to Tankwa in the Karoo! Our camp will offer a well decorated swing with a built-in misting system as one of our “chill” gifts!

Join us on our journey, or stop by our camp! (We’re near Sober Camp and Solar Camp-look for the Unicorn Flag!)
