Fractal Chill Ethiopian Coffee House

Participants needed:
🌟 Who We’re Looking For – The Fractal Chill Crew Fractal Chill is a working, gifting-based camp, and we welcome humans who embody contribution, kindness, reliability, and a love for community. We’re looking for people who feel naturally inspired to help create a Bedouin wonderland: tea-makers, coffee lovers, musos, creatives, builders, homestead helpers, and anyone who enjoys being part of a team effort. Ideal crew members are self-motivated, easy-going, and willing to gift at least two hours a day in the Café, Muso, Arty, Builder, or Homestead teams — plus one hour supporting camp hygiene, kitchen care, showers, or MOOP. We value people who show up, participate fully, help during build and strike, and see the camp as a shared home. If you love ceremony, comfort, teamwork, and co-creating magic in the dust, you’ll fit right in with the Fractal Chill family.

Project Description:

Fractal Chill is one of AfrikaBurn’s well-known and longstanding camps, continuously refining our gift since 2015. We create a Bedouin-style Ethiopian Tea & Coffee House that offers a daily ritual of comfort, connection, and calm in the dust. Our nomadic tent becomes a soft, carpeted sanctuary where Burners gather for our signature desert tea ceremony – a journey through pineapple-ginger rooibos, Moroccan mint, vanilla black tea, hand-brewed chai, and freshly roasted Ethiopian Arabica coffee.

We seat around 100 people and host open, improvised music jams led by our Music Maister and a roaming crew of troubadours.
Fractal Chill is a home-from-home, built for rest, ritual, and community. for more visual please refer to our FB page. https://www.facebook.com/share/1XRRrbfswY/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Details of Gift:

🎁 Our Gift to Tankwa Town –

Fractal Chill gifts Tankwa Town a Bedouin sanctuary in the dust — a place of warmth, ceremony, and community where anyone can rest, reset, and reconnect. Each day we offer a full desert tea experience: freshly roasted Ethiopian Arabica coffee, hand-brewed chai, Moroccan mint tea, pineapple-ginger rooibos, vanilla black tea, and light snacks such as fruit, biscuits, and popcorn.

Our soft, carpeted lounge and inflatable couches provide rare comfort at the Burn, inviting visitors to sink into a 40-minute ritual that slows the mind and soothes the body.

In the afternoons, our open percussion jam becomes a living gift of sound. Musicians and wanderers drift in, creating spontaneous music that fills the tent and spills into the streets of Tankwa Town.

Our gift is simple but deeply felt: hospitality, ceremony, comfort, and a shared moment of magic in the heart of the desert.

Joining Requirements:

🛠 Requirements for Joining Fractal Chill To join Fractal Chill, participants must be willing to contribute, collaborate, and help create our Bedouin-style sanctuary in Tankwa Town. Our core requirements are: 1. Build-Up or Break-Down Participation (Mandatory) All camp members must commit to either Build-Up or Break-Down. Preferably both — but at least one is required. This ensures we honour our site, our gift, and our shared responsibility. 2. Burners With Experience Preferred (But Not Required) We welcome crew who have burned before, as they understand the rhythm of Tankwa and working camps. However, virgins are absolutely welcome if they bring good energy, a willingness to learn, and a desire to contribute meaningfully. 3. Daily Gifting Participation All camp members must gift time each day: 2 hours in one of our teams (Café, Muso, Arty, Builder, or Homestead) 1 hour supporting homestead duties (showers, kitchen, MOOP, hygiene) 4. Being Present & Responsible Crew must be reliable, self-directed, respectful, and ready to show up for the camp and each other.

  1. Hi there at Fractal Chill,
I hope you had a good start to the new year!
My name is Diana and I live in Berlin. I am planning to participate at AB this year and I will be going with my DJ friend Caren Callas. I am currently trying to see if I can get her to play at 1 – 2 of the camps at AfrikaBurn 🙂

She is a dedicated and hard-working artist with a strong presence behind the decks. She has a special fondness for house classics, re-energizing them with fresh, contemporary energy. Musically, she moves seamlessly between deep house, tech house, and house.

A friend told me that you would be fond of some nice afro house? 🙂 So I was wondering if she could do a little fusion at Fractal Chill this year?

Let me know what you think.
    Kind regards,
    Diana

Enos’ Nookie

Spacemonkey Enos crashed his rocket into the desert and decided to create his cozy safe-space (aka nookie) in the far corners of Tankwa Town. There he welcomes other cosmic travelers ever since. His guests can enjoy audio-visual experiences in a jungle of cosmic grooves in his safe, but wild place. Follow the landing lights towards the burning rocket and let your inner monkey loose at our eclectic jols powered by a wonderful sound system. Our camp where we live and rest is located a few hundred meters away from our stage and is our private safe space where we eat and hang together, refresh ourselves and get our well deserved rest. The camp provides safe shelter, drinking water, collectively prepares a fresh warm meal daily, builds a shower, shares knowledge in event planning, building, stage production, light programming, sound engineering, awareness, vibe creation, burn principles and more.  Get in touch with us!

La Marmelada Orchestra

La Marmelada Orchestra is a spontaneous, collaborative band forming in the dust of Tankwa Town. Musicians from different backgrounds come together to create live sessions that exist only once — improvised, playful, and alive. Strings, horns, percussion, synths, voices, strange instruments, familiar ones — everything can find its place. The orchestra emerges during the week through open rehearsals, jams, and experiments at La Casa Timeless, eventually leading to collective performances where individual voices blend into one living sound. No fixed repertoire. No strict genre.Just musicians listening to each other and building something real in the moment. If you like the idea of making music with people you’ve never met before — in the middle of the desert — this might be for you.
