Nemcatacoa

Participants needed:
We are looking for people who want to sponsor our project and donate financial resources so we can bring this sculpture to the Tankwa desert.

Project Description:

This project is a narrative sculpture that seeks to be a cultural and spiritual bridge between South America and South Africa—an encounter between two territories where fire, dance, and ritual are shared languages.

Details of Gift:

This project is an offering to fire, to art, and to the power of human connections beyond borders.

Joining Requirements:

The only requirement is wanting to be part of the project and helping us gather what we need to make it real.

Additional Details:

We are looking for a house where we can stay during the production of the piece, a wood workshop, a truck to take the sculpture to the desert, and a space in a camp where we can be sheltered during the festival.

Theme Camp
HeartSpace

HeartSpace is a theme camp at AfrikaBurn, whose vision it is to create a sanctuary of radical belonging, where strangers become family. Through interactive explorations of connection, trust, play and ritual silliness, we offer magical experiences as a catalyst for your journey of self-discovery. The HeartSpace activity tent serves as our sanctuary – a sacred place for presence to open the heart and mind. See more of what we do here. Interested in joining? View this first.

Leisure & Chill

Imbizo Lounge (formerly Leisure & Chill, soon to fully transition into Imbizo Lounge) is a welcoming, African‑inspired gathering space at AfrikaBurn, rooted in the spirit of ubuntu and imbizo — a coming together to share, listen, rest, and connect. Imbizo Lounge offers an authentic taste of what Afrika is about — through food, music, rhythm, vibe, and deep human connection. It reflects how we gather, how we host, how we move together, while remaining open to learning from and blending with other cultures. Over the past three years, our camp has been a beautiful collaboration between South Africans and Europeans, infusing diverse backgrounds to create something truly magical together. This is a lounge‑style sanctuary where music, storytelling, culture, and community intersect. We bring the drum — and you will feel the beat inside of you. Our sound is not just heard; it is felt, grounding people into presence and collective rhythm. We curate deep, soulful soundscapes including Afro house, Amapiano, deep house, African electronic, and traditional influences, paired with intentional spaces for rest, conversation, and cultural exchange. Imbizo Lounge is not about spectacle or excess, but about presence, warmth, and meaningful human connection. Our space is designed as a home away from home in the desert — a place where Burners can slow down, feel held, and reconnect with themselves and others through sound, shared moments, and African hospitality. Beyond music and connection, we also share African‑inspired dishes, including our much‑loved South African braai, offered as an expression of care, generosity, and togetherness.

Theme Camp
The Holy Mountain

Leave your dust-covered shoes and your greed-weary self at the door and step into the magick of the Alchemist’s Lounge. Surrender into the couches and cushions and the gentle music – we might serve you charmed chai if your timing is right. Become an artist or a muse; consecrated or enchanted… 2026 will be the third instillation of The Holy Mountain at AfrkaBurn, as a theme camp we provide a public space, a public service, a functional part of Tankwa Town. We put our efforts into supporting each other as a group, but also into creating something for the general public of Tankwa Town to experience. Inspired by the 1973 Alexandro Jodorowsky film, ‘The Holy Mountain’, this theme camp aims to be a sanctuary and a stage, a journey and a destination. If you pass through the gateway, a comfortable chill space with couches, cushions and carpets awaits you, along with some supplies to express your creativity, and world music in the background. Everything that happens next is up to the mystery of time. You might be surprised, perhaps by yourself. If you’re into the esoteric and occult world, are a little weird or interested in creating a space or offering a gift that will help yourself and others gain insight, expand consciousness, facilitate connections we might be the camp for you.
