2026 Registration & Grant Applications Open soon

Hey there, Dreamers! Registrations and grant applications are (almost) ready to open. We’re rolling out a new back-end system to ensure that we can keep up with the increasing number of registrations and applications each year, which means the portal’s taking a bit longer to activate. But don’t just sit there squinting at the horizon, now’s the perfect time to gather your plans, polish your ideas, and be ready to hit go the moment it opens. We’ll holler as soon as the doors are unlocked

Not all projects need to be registered… But we strongly recommend it.  WHY? Because registration is your map, your compass, the tool that helps you plan and navigate the wild complexities of bringing a vision to life in the desert. KNOW THIS: Registration doesn’t grant you tickets, early access, or special campsites. And your artwork doesn’t need to be “approved”, unless it’s radically unsafe or inappropriate (in which case, we’ll reach out for a friendly chat). So don’t hold back. Create boldly. REMEMBER: knowledge is at your fingertips. On our website, under Artworks & Performances, you’ll find guidance, instructions, and sparks of inspiration.  Future too dazzling? We’ll guide you along the way. Drop us a line at art@afrikaburn.com.

GRANT APPLICATIONS

Once you’ve registered your project, you’ll be able to apply for a grant! Creative Grants are here to kickstart your ideas in Tankwa Town! They take the edge off the costs, but think of them as a helping hand; you’re still in charge of gathering the rest of the funds. RIGHT NOW, we have much more time to help you with any questions and concerns you might have in preparation for your application. After 8 October, we’ll be transfixed by submissions, and your questions might get lost in the process. That’s why we’re sharing a preview PDF of the Creative Grant Application form, so you can mull it over, catch any sneaky details, and be ready to complete and hit submit the moment the form is live. Apply early, shine while we can focus on you! Grant applications close 24 October

OPEN ASSESSMENTS

In November, grant assessments will be underway, and everyone is invited to take part. The open assessment takes place 6 – 9 November. This is when all applications will be on display gallery-style, giving the community a chance to explore, appreciate, and weigh in. It’s a collaborative, transparent way to see how ideas shine and stack up. Keep an eye on your inbox: we’ll send you a reminder to join the process.
