Monwabisi writes: “On 2 January 2023, I was in a head-on car crash and I hit my head and legs on the chair in front of me. My face was badly hurt, My nose was cut open on the left side and my lower lip was cut through. I received blunt force injury to the jaw and cheek, two teeth were smashed out, one broke off and the other was pushed right into the upper jaw bone.
In February I had that impacted tooth removed at Tygerberg Hospital under local anaesthetic, which was almost worse than the accident itself. Another tooth was damaged in the procedure, and I now have a gap of three teeth in the front of my mouth.
… Speaking and singing causes me pain, and while I have performed several times since the accident, it takes me a week to recover. My mouth is my tool and now it is broken … the gap in my mouth makes it impossible for me to pronounce my words.
Last week a CT scan showed that I have infection in the jaw bone and palate injury and this may mean further complications. Please help me by making a donation towards my recovery and to have good dentures made, so that I can sing again and fill the world with song.”
