Did you know that AfrikaBurn sponsors a number of students to attend Calvinia High School? A percentage of the annual AfrikaBurn ticket sales enables AfrikaBurn Outreach to provide educational enrichment and support to learners from our neighbouring farms and areas in the Tankwa. Learners attending Elandsvlei (NGK) Primêre Skool, who go on to high school, are supported with school and hostel fees at Calvinia High.
One of these students, Katelin Botes, has recently been recognised for her outstanding academic performance, receiving the school’s annual mathematics prize. Her achievement is a testament not only to her hard work, but also to the positive ripple effect that community-driven initiatives can have outside of Tankwa Town.
Education remains an important part of AfrikaBurn’s commitment to the people of the Tankwa Karoo region. By supporting local learners, we hope to create opportunities that empower young people to reach their full potential in academic subjects, creative pursuits and beyond. AfrikaBurn Outreach is currently funding the teaching assistants at Elandsvlei, and recently met with the teachers and principal about the school’s needs in the immediate future..
Every AfrikaBurn ticket sold helps make these success stories possible, turning creativity, community, and participation into real-world change.
